"K" Line America's Dangerous Goods Resumption Plan
to certain China ports - post summer Olympics
Earlier this summer, “K” Line America, Inc implemented a complete ban on North American DG exports to certain China ports due to the Chinese government’s official ban of certain DG goods during the Olympics. (Affected ports: Shanghai, Xingang, Qingdao, Dalian, Ningbo, and other PRC ports serviced by those previously indicated)
The resumption plan for acceptance of compliant DG cargo will commence with vessels sailing on, or after September 1, 2008, with certain exceptions based on:
- New port restrictions as notated below
- Should any China ports extend restrictions after our resumption announcement the cargo will be subject to rejection
Port Restrictions effective after September 1, 2008:
- Qingdao port
From July 20 – September 30, 2008 – the following are prohibited for import, export, transship, in-transit:
- All substance of Class 1 – Explosive (fireworks)
- All substance of Class 6.1 and 6.2 - Virulent materials
- Commodities with a subrisk Class 6.1 are prohibited as well
- Yantai port
From July 1, 2008, until further notice, the following Virulent materials are prohibited for import / export.
- All substance of Class 6.1and 6.2 -Virulent materials
- Commodities with a subrisk of Class 6.1 are prohibited as well
- Dalian port
From July 1, 2008, until further notice, All Class 2 Gases are acceptable for direct loading and direct discharge only. No storage permitted.
[Important note: "K" Line policy strictly prohibits carriage of Class 2.3 (Toxic gas) and some in Class 2.1 (Flammable Gas)]
- Huangpu port
Until further notice, the below mentioned DG shipments are prohibited for import/export/transship/in-transit. (GCT Terminal for J-5 service should be included).
- a) All substance of Class 1- Explosives (fireworks)
- b) All substance of Class 6.1and 6.2- Virulent materials
- c) Commodity with a sub risk of Class 6.1 are prohibited as well
- Inland Ports (except Huangpu GCT terminal for J-5 service)
The DG restrictions due to Olympic and para-Olympic games vary between container terminals and feeder companies.
For safety sake, and to avoid problems and extra costs- overseas must confirm acceptance prior to acceptance / confirmation of bookings.
**All other shipments regardless of destination are subject to house policies, and other current port restrictions, and are subject to overseas and/ or partner approval for acceptance at time of booking. Please refer to www.kline.com for any updates and announcements.
